HySyn
Cross-border synergies for the development of the green hydrogen value chain (01/2026 – 06/2029)

Project Objective:
The Upper Rhine region, with its major industrial, scientific, and logistical assets, is well-positioned to tackle the challenges of industrial decarbonisation and economic competitiveness, making it a leading region for green and low-carbon hydrogen. The HySyn initiative fosters structured cross-border cooperation, aiming to develop a pilot market for hydrogen technologies and applications across the entire value chain.
This approach relies on a shared mapping of skills, needs and stakeholders, as well as active networking between research institutions, SMEs, industry and public authorities, while supporting pilot projects.
In the short term, HySyn aims to create an operational cross-border market to sustainably establish the Upper Rhine as a European centre of excellence. In the longer term, the objective is to structure industrial value chains, attract investment and strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty.
