The purpose of the association TRION-climate e.V. is the promotion and the protection of the environment through transboundary synergies in the field of climate and energy in the Trinational Metropolitan Region of the Upper Rhine. This purpose is met thanks to the offer of events, training, visits and other similar activities related to climate and energy, especially through cooperation with other institutions of public interest in the area of climate and energy. Cross-border cooperation starts with the people! The purpose of TRION-climate is to connect energy and climate stakeholders from politics, administrations, economy and civil society across the three boarders, so they can learn to know each other, reduce intercultural obstacles and build trustworthy relationships. This provides the basis for mutual cross-border initiatives.

Shaping the Upper Rhine as a model Region for the energy transition together! The cross-border exchange of experience and knowledge is a fundamental task for TRION-climate. Together with our partner organization we offer every year a trinational congress and numerous events. The members of the association can propose some topics, and are given the priority to be the spakers and participants of the events.

Experiencing the energy transition up close! TRION-cliamte regularly organize cross-border visits of exemplary projects related to the energy transition. These are, for instance, sustainable neighborhoods, renewable energy installations or highly energy-efficient buildings and companies. These visits take place with small groups and are mainly reserved for the members of the association.

A first step to the international market! Numerous energy related trade fairs for energy-efficiency of buildings, production of biogas, wind power and geothermal energy are proposed within the Upper Rhine area. TRION-climate is a long-standing partner of these trade fairs and support them in their international orientation. The members of the association receive free tickets and can present as sub-exhibitors at the TRION booth to market their products and services in an international context
Marketing exemplary energy projects in the Region! The Upper Rhine has numerous flagship projects driving forward the energy transition in Europe to exhibit. With the support of its association members, TRION-climate records renewable energy production facilities and projects relating to sustainable building, and publishes them on an interactive and bilingual best practice map as examples. Individual objects can be searched specifically by energy type or region on this map.
