The non-profit organization TRION-climate is a German-French-Swiss network of energy and climate actors.
It was founded in 2015 within the Upper Rhine Conference by the states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, the Alsace region (Grand Est) and the Bas-Rhin department, as well as the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and Jura. These local authorities continue to manage and support TRION-climate e.V. The network currently has almost one hundred members.
The purpose of the association is to promote environmental protection through cross-border synergy effects in the field of climate and energy in the Trinational Metropolitan Upper Rhine Region (Statute §2.2).
The common goal is to create a network of energy and climate actors across borders, to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience, to support tri-national data collection and to create a platform for exemplary cross-border projects.
