Cerema, a public institution under the supervision of the French Ministry for Ecological Transition, supports both the State and local authorities in the developing, implementing, and evaluating public policies related to planning and transport. The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg is Europe’s largest solar research institute. Around 1,400 staff work to advance a sustainable, cost-effective, secure, and socially inclusive energy supply based on renewable sources. The institute focuses its research on energy provision, distribution, storage, and use. endura kommunal supports municipalities by developing projects that strengthen them in a sustainable way. Its target audience includes elected officials from small and medium-sized towns, municipal companies, and any other stakeholders or decision-makers seeking to promote and implement sustainable energy supply projects. endura kommunal advises its clients from the initial project idea and proposal stage through economic, technical, and legal evaluation, all the way to project implementation. Close engagement with municipalities and citizens is a central element of its approach.

Since 2006, Smart Geomatics Informationssysteme GmbH has specialised in developing innovative services and IT solutions based on geographic data, with a particular focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Its service portfolio includes GIS-based analysis methods to assess renewable energy potential, as well as the development of software programs for for regional and municipal energy planning.

The smart2Energy WEB application supports energy producers, municipal utilities, energy agencies, and technical planners in developing energy refurbishment concepts for neighbourhoods. The platform integrates most stages of the workflow, from data collection to scenario development and implementation monitoring, in one system.

SERS was officially established on 4 June 1957 at the initiative of the City of Strasbourg. As a semi-public company (SEM), it is primarily owned by the City and the Eurométropole of Strasbourg, the Bas-Rhin Department, the Alsace Region, the Caisse des Dépôts, and private partners. SERS carries out projects of public interest under the responsibility of local authorities, particularly in urban development, construction, and property management.

SERS focuses on the Strasbourg metropolitan area and has extensive expertise in delivering and managing public facilities, including schools, cultural, sports, administrative, and social infrastructures. As a developer, SERS oversees several housing developments and ZACs (publily led development zones), including several eco-neighbourhoods such as ZAC Danube in Strasbourg, Quartier de la Brasserie in Cronenbourg, Jardin des Sources in Mittelhausbergen, and Portes du Kochersberg in Vendenheim. A new eco-neighbourhood, Les Prairies du Canal in Illkirch, is currently being planned.

The European Institute for Energy Research (EIFER) was founded in September 2001 in Karlsruhe as a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) by EDF (Électricité de France) and KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). Today, EIFER consists of a multidisciplinary team of 110 staff from Germany, France, and 12 other countries.

Working alongside its international research partners, EIFER develops innovative solutions for its members, KIT and EDF, as well as for their stakeholders, including cities, municipalities, and businesses. The institute focuses on three priority research areas: "Energy planning for cities and regions", "Energy resources and decentralised production", and "The economics of energy and the environment".

EIFER has been a member of the TRION-climate association since the end of 2015.
